Job summary

System One is seeking a Senior Kubernetes Platform Engineer to own the full Kubernetes lifecycle—from provisioning and upgrades to node management and deprecation across environments in Lafayette, LA and other listed locations.

You will optimize networking, security, and observability; drive platform automation with IaC and GitOps; and leverage Amazon EKS at scale to maintain high availability and reliability.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5+ years in DevOps, SRE, or platform engineering with hands-on Kubernetes production experience.
• Proven track record managing production Kubernetes environments, especially Amazon EKS, at scale.
• Experience owning the full cluster lifecycle — provisioning, upgrades, node pools, and retirement planning.
• Strong knowledge of AWS networking and security fundamentals: VPC, IAM, load balancers, storage integrations.
• Hands-on experience with container deployment strategies and reliability engineering (autoscaling, resource tuning, scheduling).

Responsibilities

• Own the full Kubernetes lifecycle — provisioning, upgrades, node management, and deprecation planning.
• Optimize networking, ingress, and secure traffic flows; implement autoscaling and resilience testing.
• Establish observability for metrics, logs, traces, and alerting to ensure platform reliability.
• Implement security practices: RBAC, policy enforcement, image hardening, secrets management, runtime hardening.
• Build platform automation using Infrastructure as Code and GitOps workflows.
• Support incident response and troubleshoot performance issues for containerized production services.
• Manage multiple production Amazon EKS environments at scale, including provisioning and retirement planning.
• Configure and manage AWS networking components such as VPC, IAM, load balancers, and storage integrations.
• Implement container deployment strategies and reliability practices like autoscaling and scheduling.
