UT-Battelle in Oak Ridge, TN seeks a Senior Kubernetes Platform Engineer to support NCCS HPC infrastructure and on-prem Kubernetes clusters. The role focuses on reliability, scalability, and security for critical supercomputing environments.

The ideal candidate brings 8+ years of experience, strong Linux skills, and expertise in CI/CD, scripting, and platform governance. A hybrid/onsite arrangement may be available with pre-approved remote locations.

Qualifications

BS degree in a scientific field and 8+ years of relevant experience.
Experience with Kubernetes as a cluster administrator for on-prem deployments.
Strong Linux knowledge and networking concepts.
Experience with CI/CD tooling and GitLab.
Scripting in Bash, Python, and Go.

Responsibilities

Define and implement best practices and standards within the organization.
Keep the Kubernetes platform reliable, available, and fast.
Architect solutions to improve reliability, scalability, performance, and efficiency of services.
Respond to, investigate, and fix issues from bare metal through OS to application code.
Coordinate with vendors to resolve hardware and software problems.
Participate in an on-call rotation providing 24/7 support and off-hours maintenance.
Work with users to help them use Kubernetes.
