Job summary

Northwestern Mutual is seeking a Platform Senior Systems Software Engineer to join the Kubernetes Platform team. You will mentor junior engineers, drive DevOps and Agile practices, and apply engineering standards to deliver scalable containerized solutions across AWS and on-prem environments.

You’ll collaborate to build, review, and automate software with CI/CD pipelines, monitor performance, and optimize networking and security. A strong background in Python/JS and IaC is essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent IT experience required.
• AWS, Docker, or Kubernetes certified preferred.
• 4+ years in IT; 5+ years in professional IT overall.
• Extensive experience with AWS Cloud, containers, and orchestration.
• Experience with monitoring, networking, Linux, and modern scripting languages.
• Familiar with IaC (Terraform, CloudFormation) and CI/CD tooling.
• Knowledge of security fundamentals and unit testing.
