Job summary

GroqMetal is seeking a hands-on Senior Staff engineer to design and build the core Groq platform, focused on Kubernetes-based AI training and inference workloads. You will lead the design of distributed, resilient systems and drive production readiness through strong engineering practices.

Ideal candidates bring deep Kubernetes platform experience, a strong distributed-systems background, and the ability to lead technically while collaborating across infra, networking, and security teams.

Qualifications

• Experienced software engineers with production-scale software experience.
• Deep Kubernetes platform engineering experience with operators/controllers.
• Strong distributed-systems expertise including consensus and recovery.
• Experience developing infrastructure software across the full SDLC.
• Hands-on coding agents experience (Codex/Claude Code) valued.

Responsibilities

• Design and build core Groq platform systems: APIs, controllers, operators, reconciliation loops.
• Remain hands-on: write, review, test, debug, and operate substantial production code.
• Deliver Kubernetes-based services for AI training and inference workloads.
• Apply distributed-systems principles to failure, retries, concurrency, and recovery.
• Collaborate with infra, inference, networking, infosec teams to productionize needs.
