Job summary

SLAC National Accelerator Laboratory is seeking a Senior Kubernetes Engineer to design and operate scalable Kubernetes-based platforms for scientific and agentic workloads.

You will collaborate with researchers and DOE partners to enable autonomous AI-driven pipelines, multi-cluster deployments, and cloud-native infrastructure. Hybrid work options are available at SLAC in Menlo Park, CA.

Qualifications

• Minimum 8 years of software or infrastructure engineering experience with distributed systems.
• Minimum 4 years of hands-on experience deploying and operating Kubernetes in production.
• Strong proficiency in Python and/or Go; comfortable with multi-language codebases.
• Experience with CI/CD, GitOps, and observability tooling.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and operate highly available Kubernetes-based platforms for scientific workloads.
• Architect scalable data pipelines and real-time/batch computing.
• Lead agentic workflow orchestration and AI-driven pipelines at scale.
• Develop IaC with Helm, Kustomize, and GitOps practices.
• Collaborate with researchers and other DOE labs to advance platform capabilities.
