Job summary

Alfond Youth & Community Center seeks an Assistant Director of Food & Nutrition Services to lead the Waterville kitchen, oversee a dynamic team, and deliver nutritious meals for childcare, Wellness Window, and events.

You will ensure USDA and CACFP compliance, manage menus and inventory, and drive safety and quality across programs while collaborating with staff and community partners.

Qualifications

• High school education or GED required.
• Culinary training or 3–4 years kitchen experience preferred.
• ServSafe certification or ability to obtain; food safety practices required.

Responsibilities

• Direct daily kitchen operations, including cooking, cleaning and staff supervision.
• Prepare monthly menus, manage inventory and order supplies within budget.
• Ensure safety and cleanliness per Maine health rules.
• Prepare nutritious meals meeting USDA standards for programs.
• Oversee meal service and maintain accurate meal counts and reports.
• Maintain records for CACFP, USDA, and other programs.
• Coordinate with departments and prepare invoices.
• Manage budgets, coding of revenue and expenses.
• Recruit, train and evaluate staff; foster growth.
