Botetourt Veterinary Hospital is seeking a Kennel Supervisor to oversee the Kennel/Boarding/Grooming Department. You will lead the team, manage scheduling, and ensure high standards of care for boarding patients while coordinating with hospital management.

The role requires prior kennel experience with leadership skills, a strong focus on safety and accuracy, and the ability to work weekends and peak boarding times. This on-site position supports a compassionate animal care environment.

Qualifications

• Previous experience in kennel/animal care required; leadership or supervisory experience strongly preferred.
• Strong organizational and communication skills.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail.
• Able to lift 40+ lbs and work on feet for extended periods; comfortable outdoors in all seasons.
• Available for weekends, holidays, and peak boarding seasons.

Responsabilités

• Acts as the primary point of contact for kennel staff regarding callouts, tardiness, questions, and workflow needs.
• Creates, posts, and maintains the kennel department schedule, ensuring staffing levels across boarding, grooming support, and hospital needs.
• Manages last-minute staffing changes by finding coverage or adjusting workflow.
• Oversees daily operations of boarding, daycare, grooming support, and kennel cleaning for smooth function.
• Provides on-the-job training, coaching, and corrective direction; reports actions to Hospital Manager.
• Supports performance reviews and coaching discussions with Hospital Manager.
• Ensures staff adherence to hospital protocols, safety standards, and care policies.
• Maintains positive team culture; liaison between Kennel and Hospital Manager.
