Job summary

The AES Group is seeking a Senior Juniper Network Design Engineer to design, test, and implement complex Juniper-based networks in Mount Laurel, NJ. The role requires onsite work and entails working with MX, PTX, and ACX platforms, performing lab testing, and delivering implementation plans for customer networks.

The ideal candidate has 5+ years of IP networking design experience, strong JUNOS CLI skills, and hands-on automation with Python, Ansible, YAML, and PyEZ.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years of design, implementation, and operational experience in large-scale IP networks.
• JUNOS CLI experience is required.
• Must have large-scale experience with MX, PTX, and ACX devices.
• Strong knowledge of TCP/IP, MPLS, OSPF, ISIS, BGP, MPLS-TE, RSVP, LDP, IPv6, and routing policies.
• Background in automation with Ansible, YAML, and PyEZ.
• Experience writing automation scripts in Python.
• Excellent communication and client-facing skills.
• Expert-level certifications (JNCIS, JNCIP, JNCIE, CCNP, CCIE) are a strong plus.

Responsibilities

• Support design and planning of Juniper MX, PTX, and QFX network routing products and solutions within the Customer infrastructure.
• Carry out testing of new designs, features, and functionality in a lab and develop live network implementation plans.
• Perform Junos software release lab testing and validation at the customer's lab.
• Test patches and fixes to operating software and ensure proper functioning in pre-production and live networks.
• Hold design and information gathering workshops with the Customer to understand requirements.
• Train customer personnel to configure and operate Juniper products.
• Provide written status reports on design projects and network issues.
• Develop network operating procedures and implementation plans for Juniper products.
• Troubleshoot equipment and network problems and track JTAC cases to resolution.
• Develop best-practice policies for Juniper product applications used by the customer.
• Coordinate with Juniper on challenges with new software/features and share lessons learned.
• Develop secondary skills in other Juniper products.

Job description

Role: Senior Juniper Network Design Engineer
Location: Mount Laurel, NJ (Onsite)
Duration: 12+ months
Pay Rate: $60/hr. $70/hr.

Role Responsibilities

• Support design and planning of Juniper MX, PTX, and QFX network routing products and associated solutions within the Customer infrastructure
• Carry out testing of new Designs, features, and functionality as required by the Customer in a laboratory environment and to help develop plans to implement and verify that they are operating correctly in the live network
• Perform Junos software release lab testing and validation at the customer's lab
• Test patches and fixes to operating software and to ensure that they are implemented and functioning correctly in the pre-production test network and then live network as implementation plans dictate.
• Hold design and information gathering workshops with the Customer to understand the Customer s existing network design and technical requirements of new network designs.
• To train the customer s design, implementation, and support personnel to configure and operate the Juniper Networks products.
• To produce a written summary report on the status of design projects, equipment, and network problems regularly to the customer
• Develop network operating procedures, configuration standards, and implementation plans for Juniper products
• Troubleshoot equipment and network problems, and open and track JTAC cases through to problem resolution on pre- and post-production issues
• To understand the Customer s organizational structure and become familiar with the Customer s network implementation and support processes and procedures to help in supporting a network that is available and sustainable
• To hold technology workshops with the customer to discuss equipment and network problems, and to provide case status updates, including the reasons for any problems encountered and the workarounds and/or solutions that are being tried
• To assist the customer in developing Network Operating and Equipment Operating Procedures
• Development and maintenance of fault diagnosis procedures to support effective fault resolution
• Support the production environment of Juniper products within the customer infrastructure
• Support ongoing efforts in defining best-practice policies for Juniper product applications used by the customer. (Juniper Business Use Only.)
• The RC will be expected to a subject matter expert on Juniper s platforms, software, and features and coordinate directly with Juniper on any challenges encountered with new software or features implementation.
• The RC is expected to peer with other employees performing similar resident Consultant roles where lessons learned may help minimize risk associated with major network upgrades or changes in the network.
• The RC will be expected to develop secondary skills in other products in the Juniper product portfolio.

Required Background And Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years of design, implementation, and operational experience in large-scale IP networks.
• JUNOS CLI experience.
• Must have large-scale experience with routing devices MX, PTX, and ACX.
• An understanding of the protocols surrounding IP service provider networks. These skills include but are not limited to:
• TCP/IP and MPLS fundamentals
• IP/Routing experience (OSPF, ISIS, BGP, MPLS-TE, RSVP, LDP, IPv6, Routing Policy)
• Routing protocol operation, migration, and scaling mechanisms
• Routing policies at BGP peering points
• VPNs and the associated tunneling technologies (MPLS, L3VPN, VPLS, MVPN)
• Ethernet switching and 802.1Q, QoS
• Class of service
• Background in automation with Ansible, YAML, and HPE Juniper PyEZ.
• Experience writing automation scripts in Python.
• Ability to communicate effectively in crises with all levels of an organization, from Consultant/Operations to CIO/CISO audiences.
• Ability to refine and translate complex requirements and execute best-practice solutions.
• Assisted with major network upgrades, maintenance windows, and changes in the customer network.
• Strong customer interface and presentation skills.
• Other tasks and duties as needed to support the customer and/or business.
• Expert-level technical certifications (JNCIS, JNCIP, JNCIE, CCNP, and CCIE) are a strong plus.
