Job summary

Pedernales Electric Cooperative is seeking a skilled apprentice to assist in the operation, maintenance, construction and repair of transmission and distribution systems in Texas. The role includes advancing through Apprentice levels, constructing lines, inspecting equipment and participating in safety training.

Candidates should have a high school diploma or equivalent, Journeyman program completion, and a valid Texas CDL.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Successful completion of DOL program requirements for Journeyworker.
• Valid Texas Class A Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) and MVR per PEC policy.

Responsibilities

• Construct and maintain overhead and underground electric lines and equipment.
• Inspect primary and secondary power lines and substation equipment.
• Perform rubber glove work on energized lines from an aerial device.
• Work on de-energized or grounded lines or equipment from pole or aerial device.
• Investigate trouble on lines and locate cause of power outages.
• Maintain and service tools and equipment.
• Participate in safety training and call-out duty.
• Lead or monitor job briefings and tailboard meetings.
• Approve purchasing invoices and focus on efficiency and cost controls.
• Maintain a safe and reliable system for members and the public.
