Job summary

Washtenaw Community College seeks a skilled electrician to perform installations, maintenance, and repairs within the Facilities department. You will ensure code-compliant wiring, prepare drawings, and manage equipment inventories while upholding safety and quality standards.

The role requires a Michigan Journeyman license, 5–7 years’ experience, and the ability to work on campus with some travel between buildings. AI-enabled tools will support daily tasks and documentation.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED equivalent.
• 5–7 years’ experience as a licensed journeyman electrician.
• Blueprint reading proficiency.
• Ability to travel between buildings and floors.
• Valid Journey Person’s license per MI act and apprenticeship.
• Valid Michigan driver’s license.
• Ability to lift up to 60 lbs.
• Ability to climb a 20 ft ladder.
• Ability to work in inclement weather.
• Ability to interact professionally with clients and coworkers.
• Proficiency with AI-supported tools for the role.

Responsibilities

• Perform new or modified installations to minimize waste and ensure safety.
• Prepare sketches or follow diagrams for wiring and conduit installation.
• Develop and maintain preventative maintenance for electrical equipment.
• Test circuit continuity for safety and compatibility.
• Order and maintain electrical supplies and inventory.
• Utilize AI-enabled tools to support job functions while maintaining confidentiality.
