Job summary

JPMorganChase is seeking a Senior Lead Software Engineer in Jersey City, NJ to drive scalable, secure trading and wealth management platforms. You will lead an agile team, design microservices in Java, and guide architectural decisions across technologies such as Kafka, Kubernetes, Redis, MSK, and AWS.

The role emphasizes hands‑on coding, deep Java expertise, and mentoring the next generation of engineers within the Asset and Wealth Management Technology group.

Qualifications

• Formal training or certification on software engineering concepts and 5+ years applied experience.
• Ability to tackle design and functionality problems independently with little to no oversight.
• Practical cloud native experience.
• Experience in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Mathematics, or a related technical field.
• Deep knowledge and expertise in Java programming including a willingness to engage in hands‑on coding.
• Extensive experience building distributed architecture systems with large data volumes and real‑time distribution.
• Strong understanding of CI/CD, DevOps tool chains, and a test‑driven agile delivery approach.
• Experience with middle‑tier data caching solutions (e.g., Redis, Gemfire, Apache Ignite) and messaging solutions (e.g., Kafka, IBM MQ).
• Knowledge of microservices, REST APIs, databases, SQL, non‑SQL stores, and event‑based architecture.
• Proven ability to mentor and guide junior team members, fostering collaboration and growth.

Responsibilities

• Regularly provides technical guidance to support the business and its technical teams, contractors, and vendors.
• Develops secure and high‑quality production code, and reviews and debugs code written by others.
• Drives decisions that influence product design, application functionality, and technical operations and processes.
• Actively engages with and leads a team of technologists to develop and deploy applications to high standards.
• Designs and implements microservices in Java with streaming, non‑blocking, and reactive tech, contributing to codebase.
• Uses Kafka, IBM MQ, Kubernetes, Redis, MSK, and AWS to build scalable systems.
• Drives domain‑driven design to support multi‑asset trading platform architecture.
• Oversees development of technical docs, including service APIs via Swagger, with logging and security.
• Guides API design sessions and design pattern choices for the team.
• Leads code reviews and promotes TDD/BDD practices for maintainability.
• Demonstrates service scalability with mocks and testing tools.
