Job summary

ERCOT seeks an Applications Developer to design, code, test and maintain complex applications supporting the Texas power grid and wholesale market. You will collaborate with customers, business experts and internal teams to deliver scalable software across the lifecycle.

The role emphasizes modern Java, Spring Boot, containerized deployments, and DevOps practices. On-site in Taylor, TX with remote flexibility, you will help ensure high performance and reliability.

Qualifications

• Experience with modern integration patterns and event-based architectures.
• Java 17/21/25 and Spring Boot 3.x/4.x experience required.
• Container-based development and DevOps practices are essential.
• Experience building and troubleshooting high-volume data applications.
• Strong SQL knowledge with relational DBs (Oracle, SQL Server, PostgreSQL).
• 8+ years lead/senior level experience preferred for higher roles.

Responsibilities

• Designs, codes, tests, documents and maintains applications.
• Collaborates with customers and business SMEs to meet requirements.
• Works within the ERCOT SDLC and architectural standards.
• Leads or mentors teammates in code quality and development processes.
• Provides metrics and participates in development lifecycle improvements.
