Job summary

Citigroup Inc. in Jersey City, NJ seeks a VP-level Smart Order Router (SOR) Developer to design and optimize a low-latency execution platform using Java and microservices.

You will lead complex routing logic, collaborate with product and quantitative researchers, and push improvements in testing and deployment for a high-throughput environment. The role requires expert Java skills, SOR experience in equities or related domains, and strong communication abilities to articulate technical concepts

Qualifications

• Hands-on experience in high-performance, low-latency software development.
• Expert-level Java knowledge, including JVM internals, concurrency and GC.
• Experience designing automated trading systems, especially with SOR.
• Knowledge of FIX and handling market data.
• Experience with microservices and distributed systems.
• Familiarity with testing frameworks, Agile, and CI/CD practices.
• Excellent communication to convey complex concepts clearly.
• Familiarity with messaging/data grids and automation tools is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Lead design, development, and optimization of high-performance, low-latency microservices.
• Implement routing logic, venue analyses, and performance improvements for best execution.
• Lead technical design discussions and conduct rigorous code reviews.
• Collaborate with product, researchers, and other tech teams to add trading capabilities.
• Drive testing frameworks, tooling, and deployment processes for low-latency env.
• Resolve complex issues by analyzing requirements and industry best practices.
• Apply architecture and data-flow knowledge to coding, testing, and debugging.
• Build and maintain monitoring, reconciliation, and recovery solutions for trading platform.
