Humana Inc. seeks a Senior Software Engineer to build and maintain the NBA platform's rules engine for member eligibility, suppression, frequency capping and consent.

The role focuses on Java/Spring microservices, Drools rules, REST APIs and Kafka event integration in a PHI-handling environment. Responsibilities include designing and maintaining the rules engine, producing robust tests, and ensuring performance and correctness as the system scales.

Qualificações

• Bachelor's degree in computer science or relevant field.
• 5+ years of software engineering experience with strong Java and Spring/Spring Boot skills.
• Experience building and maintaining backend services and REST APIs in production.
• Comfort designing and reasoning about complex conditional/business logic.
• Working knowledge of event-driven integration and Kafka producer/consumer patterns.
• Experience operating on cloud infrastructure (Azure or equivalent) with containers/Kubernetes and CI/CD.
• Strong testing discipline and attention to correctness.
• Clear communicator across engineering, product, and compliance.

Responsabilidades

• Rules engine development — Design, build, and maintain business rules in Java and Drools.
• Backend services — Build and own the Java/Spring services and REST APIs.
• Event integration — Produce and consume Kafka events to connect the rules engine.
• Correctness and testing — Write thorough tests for rule logic and services.
• Performance — Keep rule evaluation fast and predictable with growing load.
• Quality — Participate in code reviews and ship production-ready code.
• Collaboration — Work with Product and compliance to translate requirements into rules.
