Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in computer science or relevant field.
• 5+ years of software engineering experience with strong Java and Spring/Spring Boot skills.
• Experience building and maintaining backend services and REST APIs in production.
• Comfort designing and reasoning about complex conditional/business logic.
• Working knowledge of event‑driven integration and Kafka producer/consumer patterns.
• Experience operating on cloud infrastructure (Azure or equivalent) with containers/Kubernetes and CI/CD.
• Strong testing discipline and attention to correctness.
• Clear communicator across engineering, product, and compliance.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and maintain business rules in Java and Drools that govern eligibility, suppression, frequency capping, and consent.
• Build and own the Java/Spring services and REST APIs that expose the rules engine to the rest of the platform.
• Produce and consume Kafka events to connect the rules engine to upstream signals and downstream decisioning and activation.
• Write thorough tests for rule logic and services; treat rule correctness as a first‑class, auditable concern.
• Keep rule evaluation fast and predictable as the ruleset and traffic grow.
• Run and participate in code reviews, uphold engineering standards, and ship production‑ready code in a PHI‑handling environment.
• Partner with Product and compliance to turn business and regulatory requirements into clear, maintainable rules.
