Job summary

JPMorganChase is seeking a Lead Software Engineer to join the Enterprise Technology Data Protection & Recovery product line. You will lead an agile team, shaping architecture for critical Java services, focusing on resiliency, security, and scalable, observable systems.

You will mentor engineers, drive AI-assisted development practices, and ensure robust threat modeling and encryption standards. This role emphasizes collaboration across global teams to deliver secure, reliable technology

Qualifications

• Formal training or certification in software engineering concepts with 5+ years applied experience.
• 8+ years of experience with expert level Java, including collections, concurrency, memory management, and performance tuning.
• Strong experience with Spring Boot and microservices; API-focused event-driven design.
• Expert-level experience designing Python-based microservices.
• Deep knowledge of resiliency patterns and disaster recovery objectives (RTO/RPO).
• Secure SDLC expertise: threat modeling, SAST/DAST integration, dependencies/SBOM management, secrets handling, encryption, and authN/authZ.
• Observability: metrics/logs/traces, alerting, runbooks, incident management.

Responsibilities

• Provide hands-on technical leadership across teams; act as domain SME in resiliency and recovery observability.
• Own end-to-end architecture for critical Java services: boundaries, API contracts, event schemas, cross-service standards.
• Design, develop, and review secure production code in Java; mentor engineers through code reviews.
• Drive AI-assisted engineering practices to improve quality, speed, and operations; establish validation standards.
• Drive resilient service design: manage availability SLOs, latency budgets, and error budgets.
• Partner with engineering lead on secure SDLC: threat modeling, encryption, authN/authZ.
• Champion observability and SRE practices: instrument metrics/logs/traces; lead incident response and postmortems.
• Advance data protection and recovery capabilities; maintain evidence chain of custody and auditability.
• Support CI/CD quality with tests, quality gates, canaries, and rollback plans.
• Contribute to firmwide frameworks and foster inclusive team culture.
