Job summary

JPMorgan Chase & Co. is seeking a Lead Software Engineer to guide Java microservices, define architecture, and drive secure SDLC practices within Enterprise Technology Data Protection & Recovery. You will mentor teams, champion AI-assisted engineering, and enhance observability while delivering scalable, resilient systems.

The role emphasizes cross-team collaboration, threat modeling, and end-to-end ownership of critical services in a dynamic financial tech environment.

Qualifications

• Formal training or certification on software engineering concepts and 5+ years applied experience.
• 8+ years experience with expert Java proficiency including collections, concurrency, memory management and performance tuning.
• Strong experience with Spring Boot and microservices; API focused event driven design and idempotency; schema evolution and compatibility.
• Expert-level experience designing and implementing Python-based microservices.
• Deep knowledge of resiliency engineering patterns and DR objectives (RTO/RPO) with DR tests and chaos exercises.
• Secure SDLC expertise: threat modeling, SAST/DAST integration, dependency risk/SBOM management, secrets handling, encryption standards, and robust authZ/authN.

Responsibilities

• Provide hands on technical leadership and guidance across teams; act as SME in resiliency and recovery observability.
• Own end to end architecture for critical Java services: domain boundaries, API contracts, event schemas, and cross-service standards.
• Design, develop, and review secure, high quality production code in Java; debug complex issues; mentor engineers.
• Drives team adoption of enterprise-authorized AI-assisted engineering practices to improve code quality, delivery speed, and operational outcomes.
• Apply SDLC tools to improve automation value, including AI-assisted development and runbooks.
• Drive resilient service design: manage availability SLOs, latency budgets, and error budgets.
• Partner with engineering lead the secure SDLC: threat modeling; enforce encryption; validate auth patterns.
• Champion observability and SRE practices: metrics/logs/traces, alerts, incident response and postmortems.
• Advance data protection and recovery capabilities: maintain evidence chain and immutable operations.
• Enhance systems by analyzing objectives and planning performance/reliability improvements.
• Support CI/CD quality: automated tests, coverage targets, pipeline gates, canary/blue-green with rollback.
• Contribute to engineering community and advocate firmwide frameworks; foster diversity and inclusion.
• Support critical environments and lead on-call obligations for owned services.
