Job summary

Socket.dev is seeking a hands-on Lead Software and Platform Engineer to drive the design, development, delivery, and operational reliability of large-scale, low-latency FX trading platforms. You’ll own platform reliability, production problem analysis, and DevOps practices while remaining close to code and providing technical leadership across teams.

The role emphasizes Java, Spring Boot, microservices, and Kubernetes in cloud environments (Azure/AWS/GCP).

Qualifications

• Hands-on Java development with Spring Boot and microservices.
• Experience deploying Java services on Kubernetes in public clouds.
• Production support for low-latency, high-throughput trading platforms.
• Technical lead / senior engineer with design influence.

Responsibilities

• Lead design, development, and delivery of large-scale, low-latency trading platform services.
• Build and maintain production-grade Java, Spring Boot, and microservices-based applications.
• Design, build, deploy, and operate Java services on Kubernetes in public cloud environments.
• Remain hands-on with the codebase while providing technical leadership across design, implementation, testing, release, and production support.
• Perform deep technical analysis of complex production issues across layers.
• Identify issues in the platform and DevOps pipeline, patch, test, and release fixes to restore stability.
• Provide technical leadership and mentorship to engineers, fostering best practices in coding, performance engineering, and observability.
• Collaborate with architects, product teams, DevOps, and infrastructure to deliver scalable FX solutions.
• Guide evolution of system architecture for performance, scalability, and security.
• Design, build, and support high-performance trading venues and data processing components.
• Lead observability, reliability, alerting, troubleshooting, and production readiness improvements.
• Develop automation to detect and resolve production issues, reducing downtime and latency.
• Drive continuous improvements in performance, cost, security, and developer experience.
