Job summary

Cognizant is seeking a Java Developer in Sunnyvale, CA for a hybrid work arrangement. The role focuses on end-to-end design and development of robust commerce applications using Java Springboot Microservices, with strong emphasis on scalable, secure, and maintainable solutions across hybrid environments.

Ideal candidates have 8–12 years in software development, deep Java/Springboot expertise, and experience in commerce full stack engineering with relational/NoSQL databases.

Qualifications

• 8–12 years of software development experience on enterprise Java projects.
• Deep hands-on expertise with Springboot Microservices, service design and integration with enterprise components.
• Experience in commerce full stack engineering and working with relational or NoSQL databases.

Responsibilities

• Lead end-to-end design and development of modular commerce applications using Java and Springboot Microservices.
• Drive microservice architecture decisions for loosely coupled, independently deployable services.
• Implement clean, reusable server-side code focused on domain models and business logic for commerce workflows.
• Coordinate full-stack development across backend and frontend to ensure seamless user journeys and data flows.
• Optimize performance by profiling paths, tuning DB interactions, and refining service communication.
• Configure and extend RESTful APIs and integration components for secure data exchange in commerce transactions.
• Apply secure coding, input validation, access control, and data protection measures.
• Guide CI/CD pipelines with build, test, and deployment steps for frequent reliable releases in hybrid day shift.
• Collaborate with product owners, architects, testers, and developers to translate business goals into technical solutions.
• Mentor junior engineers through code reviews and pairing sessions to uplift team capabilities.
• Coordinate defect analysis and resolution, ensuring root cause and preventive actions.
• Document designs, service contracts, and runbooks for operations support.
• Engage in hybrid collaboration ceremonies to maintain transparency and delivery commitments.
