Job summary

Northstrat is seeking a Software Engineer to design, develop, and implement complex software capabilities for computer-based systems. You will work with modern tools and stay current with the latest developments while collaborating with a talented team.

The ideal candidate has extensive Java experience, Kubernetes deployment skills (Helm, Flux), and a background in APIs and microservices. This role supports a hybrid environment and requires strong problem solving and leadership abilities.

Qualifications

• Must have at least 9 years of software engineering experience with modern Java frameworks (e.g., Spring, Guava).
• U.S. Government Security Clearance desired but not required; U.S. Citizenship required.
• Experience building Kubernetes deployments using Helm and Flux.
• Must have strong Java development experience and design of enterprise APIs.
• Experience with RESTful web services and microservices architecture.
• Experience with Linux and configuration tools (Git, Nexus, Maven).
• Ability to lead, mentor, or manage engineering teams; hybrid work schedule at Columbia, MD site or client site.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and implement complex software capabilities for computer-based systems.
• Collaborate with engineers to create software solutions and stay up-to-date with industry developments.
• Work with a fast-paced, small-business team and provide hands-on execution as well as mentorship.
• Lead and guide engineering efforts, emphasizing senior-level impact on projects.
• Support hybrid work arrangements and adapt to schedule changes as needed.
