Job summary

EPAM Systems is seeking a Senior Java Developer with strong Kotlin expertise to build the Backend for Frontend services powering mobile apps used by millions of users worldwide. This hybrid role requires three onsite days in Atlanta, GA or Phoenix, AZ.

You will design, implement, and optimize RESTful APIs, collaborate with mobile, product, and QA teams, and contribute to scalable, high-performance backend systems.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of professional server-side development experience in Java/Kotlin
• Proficient with RESTful API design and asynchronous programming
• Strong emphasis on unit testing, CI/CD, and code reviews
• Experience with Gradle and modern software development lifecycle
• Background in Backend for Frontend (BFF) or mobile-facing architectures
• Familiarity with GraphQL or RAML for API design and documentation

Responsibilities

• Build, scale, and maintain server-side APIs consumed by mobile apps
• Write clean, high-quality Kotlin/Java code with performance focus
• Refactor and modernize legacy systems for better performance
• Integrate with internal services and third-party APIs in a distributed setup
• Collaborate with mobile engineers, product managers, designers, and QA to deliver end-to-end experiences
