Job summary

Pyramid Consulting, Inc. is actively seeking a Backend API Engineer to design and deliver scalable Kotlin/Java APIs for enterprise mobile services in New York City, onsite.

This 06+ months contract position offers long-term potential and involves building out a Mobile Service Layer and BFF for high-scale applications. The role requires 5+ years of backend experience, strong REST/GraphQL expertise, and hands-on CI/CD, Docker, Gradle, and modern Spring Boot stacks.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of backend engineering experience; 10–12 years is ideal.
• Production experience with Kotlin and Java.
• Strong experience building REST APIs.
• Working knowledge of GraphQL.
• Experience with Spring Boot and modern backend frameworks.
• Hands-on experience with CI/CD and automated testing.
• Strong debugging, refactoring, and performance optimization skills.
• Experience in large enterprise or financial services environments is a plus.
• BFF (Backend for Frontend) and microservices experience.
• Docker, Jenkins, GitHub Actions, Gradle.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and maintain server-side applications and APIs.
