Creative Solutions Services, LLC is urgently seeking a Server-Side API Engineer to design, build, and maintain backend services using Kotlin/Java, REST and GraphQL, with a focus on the Mobile Service Layer for enterprise mobile apps. This 6+ months contract is based onsite in New York City, NY.

The role requires hands-on Kotlin/Java development, Spring Boot, and strong experience in building scalable microservices, BFFs, and CI/CD pipelines.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of backend engineering experience; 10-12 years ideal.
• Production experience with Kotlin and Java.

Job description

Immediate need for a talented Server-Side API Engineer (Kotlin/Java, REST & GraphQL) - Mobile Service Layer.

This is a 06+months contract opportunity with long-term potential and is located in New York City, NY (Onsite).

Pay Range: $62/hr - $65/hour. Traveler benefits as per agency package. (Benefits vary by vendor and assignment).

Key Responsibilities:

• Design, build, and maintain server-side applications and APIs.
• Develop the Mobile Service Layer / BFF consumed by American Express mobile applications.
• Create scalable REST and GraphQL services.
• Write clean, maintainable, production-ready Kotlin and Java code.
• Refactor and modernize legacy services while building new functionality.
• Troubleshoot production issues and deliver permanent fixes.
• Work across CI/CD pipelines, testing, performance tuning, and deployment automation.
• Collaborate with engineers, product managers, designers, and QA teams in a large-scale agile environment.

Key Requirements and Technology Experience:

• 5+ years of backend engineering experience; 10-12 years is ideal.
• Production experience with Kotlin and Java.
• Strong experience building REST APIs.
• Working knowledge of GraphQL.
• Experience with Spring Boot and modern backend frameworks.
