Job summary

Ex in Pittsburgh is seeking an experienced Java Kafka Developer to design, develop, and support high-performance, event-driven applications using Spring Boot and microservices. You will build Kafka producers and consumers, expose REST APIs, and collaborate with DevOps on CI/CD to deliver scalable solutions.

You will work with SQL/NoSQL databases (Oracle, PostgreSQL, MongoDB), ensure high availability, and lead technical efforts with strong problem-solving skills.

Qualifications

• 8-10 years of hands-on Java development with focus on Kafka and event-driven systems.
• Proven experience with microservices, Spring Boot, Spring Cloud and Hibernate.
• Hands-on experience with Oracle and MSSQL databases.
• Docker, Kubernetes, and containerized deployments.
• CI/CD pipelines, Git, Jenkins, and automated testing tools.
• Experience with event-driven architecture and messaging systems like Kafka or RabbitMQ.
• Exposure to SAFE Agile/Scrum methodologies.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain Java-based enterprise applications using Spring Boot and microservices.
• Build and manage event-driven systems with Apache Kafka (producers, consumers, topics, partitions, schemas).
• Collaborate with architects, analysts, and DevOps to deliver scalable, resilient solutions.
• Implement RESTful APIs and integrate with downstream and upstream systems.
• Ensure high availability, fault tolerance, and performance tuning of Kafka and Java apps.
