Job summary

Wise Skulls is seeking an experienced Java Developer with Kafka expertise to design, develop, and support high-performance, event-driven applications in a hybrid environment across Pittsburgh, PA, and Cleveland, OH. You will build scalable Java services using Spring Boot and microservices, and ensure reliability in production systems.

The role requires 8+ years hands-on Java experience, strong Spring Boot knowledge, and proficiency in Kafka, REST APIs, and both SQL/NoSQL databases.

Qualifications

• 8+ years hands-on Java development with Kafka expertise.
• Design and develop Java-based enterprise apps using Spring Boot and microservices.
• Build and manage event-driven systems with Apache Kafka (producers, consumers, topics, partitions, schemas).
• Ensure high availability, fault tolerance, and performance tuning of Kafka and Java applications.
• Familiar with CI/CD pipelines, Git, Maven/Gradle; Agile/Scrum environments.
• Banking/Financial domain highly preferred.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain Java-based enterprise applications using Spring Boot and microservices.

Role and Responsibilities:

• Strong hands-on 8+ years of experience as Java Developer with strong Kafka expertise to design, develop, and support high-performance, event driven applications
• Design, develop, and maintain Java-based enterprise applications using Spring Boot and microservices architecture.
• Build and manage event-driven systems using Apache Kafka, including producers, consumers, topics, partitions, and schemas
• Collaborate with architects, business analysts, and DevOps teams to deliver scalable and resilient solutions.
• Implement RESTful APIs and integrate with downstream and upstream systems.
• Ensure high availability, fault tolerance, and performance tuning of Kafka and Java applications.
• Strong knowledge of SQL and NoSQL databases (e.g., Oracle, PostgreSQL, MongoDB).
• Ability to build abstract, modularized reusable code components.
• Participate in code reviews, sprint planning, and production support activities.
• Troubleshoot and resolve production issues with a focus on root cause analysis.
