Job summary

Cohere is seeking a Java Full Stack Engineer in the Northern Virginia area to support a Government customer. The role focuses on building distributed micro‑service applications using Spring, Vue.js, Kafka and PostgreSQL on cloud and virtualization platforms. You will work in an Agile team, deliver end-to-end features, and help mature the software baseline.

The ideal candidate has 9+ years in Java/Spring, 3+ years with Vue.js, strong RESTful services, and a proactive, collaborative approach.

Qualifications

• B.S. degree Computer Science, Systems Engineering, Information Systems, Computer Engineering, or related, with 9+ years of experience (or M.S. with 7+ years).
• 4 years’ Java development with Spring/Spring Boot across backend/frontend/middleware.
• 3 years’ Vue.js front-end development.
• 3 years’ experience with Kafka or similar messaging systems and RESTful web services.

Responsibilities

• Participate in a development team using Agile methodologies and sprint cycles.
• Research, design, develop, and extend software to implement new capabilities and mature existing ones.
• Maintain the deployed system, diagnose issues, and provide end-user support.
• Provide technical guidance to the team to improve self-reliance and effectiveness.
