Avis Budget Group seeks a hands-on Lead Engineer to design, build, and operate mission-critical enterprise applications on a modern Java stack deployed to OCI. You will lead a team of engineers through the full software delivery lifecycle, setting technical direction and raising the bar for engineering quality across the team.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of professional software engineering experience with backend focus.
• 5+ years in Java backend development (Java 11+, Spring Boot, JPA/Hibernate, RESTful APIs).
• 2+ years hands-on experience with Oracle Cloud Infrastructure - compute, OKE, networking, IAM, Autonomous Database, and OCI DevOps or equivalent CI/CD tooling.

Responsibilities

• Lead the design and development of scalable, secure, high-availability services using Java and microservices patterns.
• Own end-to-end solution architecture for applications deployed on OCI, including compute, storage, and Autonomous DB.
• Provide technical leadership to a team of engineers and perform code and design reviews, mentoring, and career development.
• Define and enforce engineering standards - coding guidelines, branching strategy, test coverage, observability, and CI/CD practices.
• Drive cloud migration and modernization, including refactoring monolithic apps into containerized services on OKE.
• Build and maintain integrations with enterprise systems and ensure security best practices.
