Job summary

Morgan Stanley is seeking a senior software engineer to join the Equity Swaps technology team. You will design, architect, and build core components in a real-time, multi-threaded Java platform, driving technical direction and mentoring teammates.

You will own complex, cross-team initiatives, work with MongoDB, Kafka, IBM MQ, Hazelcast, Snowflake, and grow into a subject-matter expert on the sharded MongoDB cluster and cashflow calculator.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of experience.
• Proficiency in Java, server-side programming with Spring Boot and JUnit.
• Strong understanding of message-based architectures (Kafka and/or IBM MQ).
• Strong RDBMS skills (Sybase/DB2) with complex SQL.
• Unix/Linux scripting (Shell / Python).
• Excellent problem-solving and communication; ownership of SDLC delivery.
• Genuine interest in learning the business the platform supports.

Responsibilities

• Building and evolving a multi-threaded, Linux-based, real-time Java platform handling high-throughput event flows.
• Driving analysis, design, and architecture for complex, cross-team initiatives.
• Working with technologies like MongoDB, Kafka, IBM MQ, Hazelcast, and Snowflake.
• Getting deeply hands-on with a large sharded MongoDB cluster and SME development.
• Becoming a technical expert on the core cashflow calculator and numerical correctness.
• Strengthening test automation and deployment, maturing CI/CD.
• Participating in L3 support for North America on a fair rotation.
• Using AI tooling to accelerate the SDLC while maintaining technical judgment.
