Job summary

Aera Technology in the United States seeks a Senior Software Engineer to advance the CALC engine, a Java-based, high‑performance OLAP system. You will influence design decisions with product teams and implement scalable, low‑latency calculation code.

Ideal candidates have strong backend experience, deep Core Java skills, JVM knowledge, and familiarity with AI tools such as Claude Code. You will help ensure correctness and performance while delivering sophisticated engine features.

Qualifications

• Strong experience in backend software development.
• Strong Core Java skills: threading, allocation & garbage collection, performance tuning.
• Domain knowledge in database engines, compiler design or front office.
• Experience designing languages.
• Understanding of the JVM internals.
• Experience using AI tools such as Claude Code.

Responsibilities

• Work closely with the product team to codify design decisions into executable criteria.
• Collaboratively design and implement high‑performance, low latency calculation engine code.
• Communicate complex technical concepts clearly and effectively to team members and stakeholders.
• Advocate for correctness‑first approaches and foster a culture where quality is paramount.
