Job summary

Noblis MSD is seeking a Senior Java Developer to support a large-scale Navy program. This onsite role is based at the Philadelphia Navy Yard, working with NAVSEA and NSWCPD.

You will design, develop, test, and support Java-based applications, mentor teammates, and collaborate across developers, testers, engineers, and program stakeholders. A strong emphasis on maintainability, modernization, and code quality guides daily work.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a relevant technical discipline required.
• 8+ years of software development with Java.
• Experience with large/multi-module Java applications.
• Experience maintaining, troubleshooting, or refactoring Java codebases.
• Strong OO design and best practices.
• Experience with Java 17 or later.
• Familiarity with modernization concepts (records, modularity, etc.).
• Experience with Git or GitLab and Jira.
• Familiarity with CI/CD and SonarQube.
• Proficient in Linux and team collaboration.
• U.S. Citizenship and ability to obtain Secret clearance.
• DoD/Navy or government software program experience is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, maintain, and enhance Java software applications.
• Support troubleshooting, testing, integration, and releases.
• Work with large existing codebases to improve maintainability.
• Review and update existing software as needed.
• Support modernization, refactoring, and performance improvements.
• Participate in code reviews and promote best practices.
• Support build, deployment, and release activities using GitLab, Jira, SonarQube.
• Assist with troubleshooting during development, integration, or field support.
• Mentor or guide other developers as needed.
• Collaborate with developers, testers, engineers, cybersecurity, and stakeholders.
• Document design notes, release notes, installation instructions, and user guidance.
• Communicate status, blockers, risks, and technical issues clearly.
