Job summary

VGS is seeking a Senior Developer to design, build, and scale our payment platform. You’ll focus on Java Spring Boot, AWS, and Kubernetes, delivering high-performance microservices and cloud-native solutions.

You’ll solve complex technical challenges, shape architecture, and mentor peers while improving scalability, reliability, and performance across our systems. Hybrid work is supported in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of professional software development experience.
• Proficiency in Java and the Spring Boot ecosystem.
• Hands-on experience with AWS services and Kubernetes orchestration.
• Experience designing and working with event-driven architectures (Event Bus, Kafka, or similar).
• Familiarity with cloud data warehouses such as Amazon Redshift or equivalent.
• Proven ability to build and maintain observability stacks using Grafana and Prometheus.
• Strong Computer Science foundation and distributed systems knowledge.
• Hybrid work environment experience is a plus.
• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.

Responsibilities

• Architect and build high-performance, event-driven microservices using Java Spring Boot.
• Design and optimise cloud-native data pipelines and integrations with cloud data warehouses (e.g. Amazon Redshift).
• Manage containerised workloads on AWS with Kubernetes, ensuring high availability and scalability.
• Implement robust observability using Grafana and Prometheus to monitor system health and performance.
• Participate in code reviews, mentoring junior engineers, and collaborating with cross-functional teams.
