Job summary

S&P Dow Jones Indices, a division of S&P Global, seeks a Lead Software Engineer to design, develop, and deploy scalable, distributed systems for our indices prototyping platform. You will lead technical direction, mentor junior engineers, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver high-quality features using Java, Spring, and cloud-native technologies.

The role emphasizes building fault-tolerant microservices, implementing CI/CD, and leveraging AWS to deploy robust solutions.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field.
• 8+ years of strong Java experience in designing, developing, testing and deploying complex projects.
• Strong Java skills with experience in concurrent and distributed systems.
• Experience with Java 8 features especially Streams API.
• 5+ years experience with Spring-based technologies (Spring Boot, Spring Cloud) and Hazelcast.
• 5+ years SQL knowledge and experience.
• Experience designing and implementing microservices; writing unit/integration tests; SQL queries with data modeling.
• Exposure to AWS cloud (EC2, ECS, Load Balancer, Lambda, S3).
• Strong analytical and problem solving skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead the design, development, and deployment of applications using modern programming languages and frameworks.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define, design, and ship new features.
• Ensure performance, quality, and responsiveness of applications.
• Identify and fix bottlenecks and bugs.

• Implement containerization strategies for applications.
• Develop UIs using modern front-end technologies.
• Mentor junior developers and provide technical guidance.
• Stay up-to-date with emerging technologies and industry trends.
