Job summary

Enlighten is seeking a talented Software Engineer to design, develop, and implement complex Java-based software capabilities for computer-based systems. You will work with a collaborative team to create software solutions that meet client needs, with modern tools and technologies and opportunities to stay current in the field.

Ideal candidates will have strong Java experience, RESTful services, and a track record of delivering high-quality software in agile environments.

Qualifications

• Clearance requirement: U.S. Government Security Clearance; U.S. Citizenship required.
• 9 years experience in Software Engineering with Modern Java frameworks; 7 years with Masters; or 13 years with HS diploma or equivalent.
• Experience designing enterprise APIs and RESTful web services.
• Microservices architecture experience.
• OOP paradigms and agile software lifecycle.
• Linux experience; knowledge of configuration tools (Git, Nexus, Maven).
• Demonstrated experience as tech lead, mentor, or engineering manager.
• Hybrid work arrangement with ~2 days per week in San Antonio office.

Responsibilities

• Develop Java-based software capabilities and APIs.
• Integrate AI agent workflows and autonomous testing.
• Lead and mentor junior engineers within a fast-paced environment.
• Refactor and implement multi-file features across complex codebases.
• Ensure security, performance, and architectural alignment of code.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver high-quality software.
