Job summary

Interactive Brokers in Greenwich, CT, is seeking a Senior Java Developer to drive the full software development lifecycle for mission-critical back office and trading systems. You will design, build, and optimize high-performance financial applications, working with Java Spring, microservices, and AI-assisted development tools to accelerate delivery.

You will collaborate across teams, ensure code quality with automated tests, and help scale our platform across international markets.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
• 5-10 years of experience designing and building medium-to-large scale applications using Java and/or Python/Perl on Linux.
• Strong hands-on experience with Java Spring, including Spring Boot (micro services) and traditional Spring applications.
• Strong grasp of object-oriented design principles and common design patterns.
• Experience with JDBC and relational databases (Oracle preferred).
• Hands-on experience using AI-assisted development tools (e.g., Claude, GitHub Copilot, or similar) across the software development life cycle.
• Excellent collaboration and communication skills, with experience partnering across development teams on critical roll outs.
• Knowledge of financial instruments or a strong motivation to learn financial markets and concepts.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain high-performance, scalable, and resilient financial applications.
• Optimize and refactor existing code to improve reliability and performance.
• Partner with other developers and stakeholders to plan, prioritize, and deliver development initiatives.
• Validate AI-assisted or AI-refactored code with sufficient automated test coverage before submitting for review.
• Conduct thorough code reviews — including validation of testing results — and ensure large change sets are broken into reviewable units.
• Collaborate across teams to implement and roll out solutions in both production and development environments.
• Proactively identify and resolve technical issues before they impact downstream systems.
