Job summary
Interactive Brokers in Greenwich, CT, is seeking a Senior Java Developer to drive the full software development lifecycle for mission-critical back office and trading systems. You will design, build, and optimize high-performance financial applications, working with Java Spring, microservices, and AI-assisted development tools to accelerate delivery.
You will collaborate across teams, ensure code quality with automated tests, and help scale our platform across international markets.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
- 5-10 years of experience designing and building medium-to-large scale applications using Java and/or Python/Perl on Linux.
- Strong hands-on experience with Java Spring, including Spring Boot (micro services) and traditional Spring applications.
- Strong grasp of object-oriented design principles and common design patterns.
- Experience with JDBC and relational databases (Oracle preferred).
- Hands-on experience using AI-assisted development tools (e.g., Claude, GitHub Copilot, or similar) across the software development life cycle.
- Excellent collaboration and communication skills, with experience partnering across development teams on critical roll outs.
- Knowledge of financial instruments or a strong motivation to learn financial markets and concepts.

We're looking for a Senior Java Developer to drive the full software development lifecycle — from planning and prioritization through testing and release. With strong technical depth and the communication skills to align technical and business stakeholders.

- Experience with SWIFT MT/MX messaging standards.
- Hands-on experience with AWS, including data lake architectures (using Parquet file formats), Athena, and EC2, for building and operating datadriven, production-grade applications.
