IAMUS Consulting in Maryland is seeking a Software Engineer to design and implement complex Java-based software for computer systems. You will work with a team of engineers to deliver high-quality solutions for clients.

The role emphasizes modern Java frameworks, API design, microservices, and a hybrid work schedule averaging 1–2 days per week in our Columbia, MD office. A security clearance is required, and the compensation reflects $139,000–$180,000 yearly with benefits.

Qualifications

• Clearance required: U.S. Government Security Clearance; U.S. Citizenship required.
• 5+ years in Software Engineering with Modern Java Frameworks (e.g. Spring, Guava); or 3 years with Masters; or HS diploma with 9 years relevant experience.
• Experience in designing enterprise APIs.
• Experience with RESTful web services.
• Experience in Microservices architecture.
• Experience with Object Oriented Programming (OOP).
• Experience with the agile software lifecycle.
• Ability to learn quickly; works well independently and in a team.
• Experience with Linux operating system.
• Experience with configuration management tools (Git, Nexus, Maven).
• Hybrid work: 1-2 days per week at our Columbia, MD office.

Responsibilities

• Must have a strong working knowledge and experience developing Java-based software capabilities.
• Should integrate AI agents into daily engineering workflows (Claude Code, Gemini).
• Guide AI agents through complex multi-repository architectures; audit code for security and performance.
• Collaborate in a fast-paced, small business environment with our engineering team.
• Additional duties as assigned.
