Job summary

Peraton in Herndon, VA seeks a Software Engineer with strong Java/Java EE experience to design, develop and deploy scalable enterprise applications on Linux/Unix systems. The role requires on-site presence at Worldgate office in Herndon and a US security clearance path.

The ideal candidate has hands-on WebLogic development, relational database knowledge, and proficiency with SDLC methodologies such as Waterfall and Agile/Scrum. Excellent communication and problem-solving skills are essential.

Qualifications

• 5 years with BS/BA; 3 years with MS/MA; 0 years with PhD
• US Citizenship
• Ability to obtain and maintain a Public Trust clearance
• Security Plus SEC+ certification required
• On-site requirement at Worldgate office in Herndon, VA
• Minimum 3 years hands-on experience developing Java EE applications on WebLogic for highly available, 24x7, scalable systems on Linux/Unix
• Knowledge of RDBMS, data modeling, ERD design and development
• Experience in enterprise Java solutions with OOA&D and design patterns
• Understanding of SDLC methodologies (Waterfall, Agile/Scrum)
• Demonstrated analytical and problem-solving skills
• Excellent communication abilities
• Excellent Java/Java EE programming skills
• Strong knowledge of Java and object-oriented programming

Responsibilities

• Conduct research in design, development, testing and utilization of software
• Design, develop, document, test and debug applications and systems
• Collaborate with hardware engineers in planning and utilization of software
• Assess user needs; analyze system capabilities; prepare operating instructions; design and develop tools and OS components
• Ensure software standards are met
• Analyze requirements to determine feasibility within time and cost constraints
• Consult with analysts, engineers and programmers to define system capabilities and interfaces
• Design, develop and modify software systems using analytical and mathematical models
• Coordinate software installations and monitor equipment to meet specifications
