Job summary

Smart Start, Inc. is seeking a software developer to join the IT team for end-to-end software development, design, and maintenance of in-house Java applications. You will collaborate with other Java developers and support devices interfacing with our software solutions, while maintaining strong knowledge of hardware interfaces.

The role requires several years of Java/J2EE experience, Hibernate/JPA, and the ability to work in a hybrid schedule (Mon-Fri, 8am-5pm). Visa sponsorship is not provided.

Qualifications

• Four years of professional software development experience.
• Bachelor's degree in CS/engineering or equivalent experience preferred.
• Experience with J2EE and EJBs is required.
• Experience with ORM frameworks (Hibernate/JPA/Eclipselink).
• Strong communication and analytical skills required.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with development team to design solutions using Java and related tech.
• Gather requirements with other departments and document designs.
• Investigate performance issues and implement improvements.
• Conduct application security reviews and address gaps.
• Create and maintain documentation for Java/Web applications and deployment.
• Respond to SQL DBA requests regarding tuning and access.
• Troubleshoot network, application, and OS issues affecting apps and servers.
• Work independently on projects with limited supervision.
