Cognizant’s Digital Engineering practice is seeking a highly qualified Senior Java Developer with React experience to develop and build high-performing, scalable, enterprise applications. You will be part of a digital software team working on high-demand applications, emphasizing high-quality, reliable, and maintainable code. Collaboration with product managers, designers, and clients is essential to deliver valuable software quickly. Location: San Leandro, CA

You must be legally authorized to work in the United States without employer sponsorship now or in the future. Cognizant will not sponsor H-1B or other U.S. work visas for this role.

Responsibilities:

1. Work from the client office at least 3 days a week.
2. Proficiency in Java 17, including REST API development, backend logic with Spring Boot.
3. Hands-on experience with React is preferred.
4. Exposure to non-relational databases like MongoDB.
5. Must have hands-on experience with Kafka.
6. Proficiency with CI/CD DevOps tools such as GitHub, Jenkins, Urban Code Deploy/Harness.
7. Ability to work as an individual contributor.
8. Experience with microservice architectures.
9. Strong analytical skills to debug and understand application concepts.

Required Qualifications:

1. Minimum 7+ years of experience as a Spring Boot Java React microservices developer.
2. Hands-on knowledge of Kafka and MongoDB is mandatory.
3. Familiarity with Agile, Jira, and Scrum methodologies.
4. Basic experience in banking and financial domains.
5. Experience in all project phases, including requirements gathering, analysis, design, testing, and support.

Salary and Compensation

Applications accepted until June 6, 2025. The annual salary ranges from $85,000 to $114,000, depending on experience and qualifications. The position is eligible for Cognizant’s discretionary annual incentive program based on performance.
