Job summary

Citigroup Inc. in Tampa, FL is seeking a Senior JAVA Big Data Developer to design, build, and scale high-performance data platforms powering critical decisions. You will lead development of complex data engineering solutions using Java, Confluent Kafka, Flink, and modern big data technologies.

You will design scalable pipelines, mentor engineers, and ensure regulatory and governance compliance while delivering production-grade systems across Citi's data ecosystem.

Qualifications

• 6+ years of hands-on experience in software or application development with a focus on big data engineering or distributed systems.
• Deep expertise in Java development with production-grade data applications.
• Hands-on experience with Confluent Kafka and Apache Flink (or Spark Streaming) for real-time data processing.
• Experience deploying in Kubernetes (K8s) and enterprise container platforms such as ECS or Red Hat OpenShift.
• Strong understanding of container orchestration, pod lifecycles, networking, and resources.
• Proven ability to lead and deliver complex technical projects from design to production.
• Demonstrated leadership mentoring developers and coordinating delivery across teams.
• Ability to assess risk and ensure solutions meet regulatory, compliance, and data governance requirements.

Responsibilities

• Design scalable big data pipelines and distributed systems using Java and Kafka for real-time processing.
• Architect data solutions aligned with enterprise standards for reliability, performance, and maintainability.
• Deploy and manage containerized workloads on ECS OpenShift and Kubernetes environments.
• Collaborate with engineering and product teams to identify enhancements for new capabilities.
• Define and enforce coding, testing, debugging, and deployment standards across teams.
• Analyze complex processes to deliver practical engineering solutions.
• Mentor mid-level developers and analysts to meet delivery goals.
• Assess technical and business decisions with attention to regulatory and governance requirements.
