Job summary

BrickRed Systems is seeking an experienced Java Developer to design, develop, and deploy secure, scalable backend applications using Java 11+, Spring Boot, and microservices.

You will build and consume RESTful APIs, implement security with OAuth2/JWT, optimize database access with JPA/Hibernate, and support production systems. Experience with AI coding assistants like GitHub Copilot, Claude Code, or Cursor is highly valued in our collaborative Agile environment.

Qualifications

• 7+ years with Java 11+ and Spring Boot/Spring Framework including Spring Security, OAuth2, and JWT.
• Experience designing RESTful APIs and working with microservices architectures.
• 5+ years with SQL, database design, and JPA/Hibernate.
• Hands-on experience with AI coding assistants in real-world development workflows.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, deploy, and maintain scalable Java applications and microservices following established patterns.
• Develop secure, reliable back-end services and clean, well-tested code.
• Create and consume RESTful APIs and gRPC services; implement authentication and authorization with Spring Security, OAuth2, and JWT.
• Design and optimize SQL queries and database interactions using JPA/Hibernate.
• Integrate messaging and asynchronous processing as needed.
• Participate in design/code reviews, sprint planning, testing, and production support.
