Job summary

BrickRed Systems is seeking an experienced Java Developer – Spring Boot Microservices to design, develop, and deploy scalable, secure backend applications in a fast-paced Agile setting.

The candidate will work with Java 11+, Spring Boot/Spring Framework, RESTful APIs, SQL databases (PostgreSQL/MySQL), and modern security (OAuth2, JWT). AI coding assistants like Copilot/Claude Code/Cursor are encouraged to improve productivity.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of experience with Java 11+ and Spring Boot/Spring Framework (including Spring Security, OAuth2, and JWT).
• 7+ years of RESTful API design and microservices architecture.
• 5+ years with SQL, database design, and JPA/Hibernate.
• Hands-on experience using AI coding assistants like GitHub Copilot, Claude Code, or Cursor in real projects.
• Strong OOP, SOLID principles, and common design patterns.
• Experience building secure, scalable backend apps and working with CI/CD and Git.
• Familiarity with unit/integration testing (JUnit, Mockito).
• Cloud familiarity (AWS, Azure, GCP) and distributed systems exposure.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain scalable Java applications and microservices.
• Build secure, reliable, high-performance backend services and RESTful APIs.
• Review code, participate in technical design, and contribute in Agile sprints.
• Implement secure API authentication/authorization (OAuth2, JWT).
• Optimize database interactions (SQL, JPA/Hibernate) and work with PostgreSQL/MySQL.
• Collaborate cross-functionally to deliver quality software in a fast-paced environment.
