Job summary

Huxley, a Chicago-based trading technology startup, is hiring a Senior Software Engineer to help build and scale the systems that power trading, market data, clearing, and post-trade workflows. This hands-on role focuses on high-performance backend services and real-time data processing.

Ideal candidates have 4+ years of backend experience, strong Java/Spring Boot skills, and comfort with APIs, distributed systems, and SQL. Remote work is possible some days, with onsite in Chicago preferred.

Qualifications

• 4+ years of backend engineering experience.
• Strong Java and Spring Boot experience.
• Experience with APIs, distributed systems, messaging/event-driven architectures, and SQL.
• Ability to translate business requirements into technical solutions.
• Trading, fintech, market data, or other high-throughput systems experience is a plus.
• Experience with FIX, exchange connectivity, clearing, or risk systems is helpful but not required.

Responsibilities

• Build and scale high-performance backend services powering real-time market data, trading, and post-trade workflows.
• Contribute to projects from design through production, delivering reliable, scalable solutions.
• Collaborate on architecture discussions and own critical components end-to-end.
