Job summary

Huxley, a Chicago-based trading technology startup, is hiring a Senior Software Engineer to help build and scale the systems that power trading, market data, clearing, and post-trade workflows. This hands-on role focuses on high-performance backend services and real-time data processing.

Ideal candidates have 4+ years of backend experience, strong Java/Spring Boot skills, and comfort with APIs, distributed systems, and SQL. Remote work is possible some days, with onsite in Chicago preferred.

Qualifications

• 4+ years of backend engineering experience.
• Strong Java and Spring Boot experience.
• Experience with APIs, distributed systems, messaging/event-driven architectures, and SQL.
• Ability to translate business requirements into technical solutions.
• Trading, fintech, market data, or other high-throughput systems experience is a plus.
• Experience with FIX, exchange connectivity, clearing, or risk systems is helpful but not required.

Huxley is working with a Chicago-based trading technology startup that's hiring a Senior Software Engineer to help build and scale the systems that power trading, market data, clearing, and post-trade workflows.

This is a hands-on role for a strong Java engineer who enjoys solving complex problems, building scalable systems, and contributing to projects from design through production. You'll be working on high-performance backend services that support real-time market data, exchange integrations, regulatory workflows, and trade processing.

What they're looking for:

• 4+ years of backend engineering experience
• Strong Java and Spring Boot experience
• Experience with APIs, distributed systems, messaging/event-driven architectures, and SQL
• Ability to translate business requirements into technical solutions
• Trading, fintech, market data, or other high-throughput systems experience is a plus
• Experience with FIX, exchange connectivity, clearing, or risk systems is helpful but not required
• Ability to work onsite in Chicago's Loop 2-3 days per week or be fully remote
