Job summary

LaStellar Group is seeking a Senior/Staff Java Engineer for an electronic trading platform in NYC. You’ll work on high-throughput, low-latency systems handling real-time market data and trades, within a team replacing legacy processes with AI-driven trading infrastructure.

Requirements include 8+ years of production Java experience, deep concurrency knowledge, strong CS fundamentals, SQL proficiency, and cloud backend experience.

Qualifications

• 8+ years building production Java systems.
• Deep multithreading and concurrency knowledge.
• Strong CS fundamentals in data structures, algorithms, and distributed systems.
• SQL proficiency with query optimization.
• Experience building and scaling cloud-based backend systems.
• Bachelor's in CS, engineering, or related field.

Responsibilities

• Core trading engine components — order management, matching logic, real-time pricing
• High-throughput, low-latency services processing live market data
• Multithreaded, concurrent systems where correctness and performance both matter
• Backend architecture as the platform transitions fully in-house
• Data pipelines and APIs that product and quant teams build on top of
