Job summary

Aether Biomedical is seeking a Senior Java EE Developer to join a consultancy team for a critical modernization project on a banking system. The role focuses on upgrading an existing Java EE/Jakarta EE application, including EJB and major app servers, with remote work available within Poland.

Responsibilities include upgrading the architecture, refactoring code, coordinating with QA/DevOps, and documenting migration steps while enabling knowledge transfer to client teams.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of Java enterprise development in large environments.
• Hands-on Java EE / Jakarta EE with EJB and app servers (JBoss/WildFly, WebLogic, WebSphere).
• Proven upgrades/migrations in mission-critical systems.
• Strong knowledge of integration patterns, deployment pipelines and performance tuning.
• Banking/financial services experience is a plus.
• Willingness to work CET/ET hours occasionally.

Responsibilities

• Perform a technical upgrade of the banking application and dependencies.
• Refactor and optimize code for compatibility with new versions.
• Collaborate with architects, QA and DevOps for integration, testing and deployment.
• Document upgrade steps, migration guidelines and challenges/resolutions.
• Support knowledge transfer and guide client teams post-upgrade.
