Job summary

Financial Industry Regulatory Authority, Inc. in Rockville, MD is seeking a Staff Software Engineer to design, develop, and optimize backend services with Java and Spring Boot. You will build scalable RESTful APIs and contribute to a robust microservices architecture.

This role requires cloud experience on AWS, CI/CD, data storage across relational and NoSQL databases, and strong object‑oriented design. You will work in a hybrid environment, collaborate with peers, and help drive FINRA’s mission

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems or related discipline with at least 5 years of related experience, or equivalent training and/or work experience.
• System design experience
• Strong experience in object-oriented development
• Strong experience with cloud technologies
• Strong experience in data storage technologies
• Experience in performance tuning and optimization
• Experience in DevOps and CI/CD technologies
• Experience test automation and unit testing

Responsibilities

• Develops cloud-native solutions leveraging AWS ECS, Lambda, Step Functions, and RDS.
• Participates in building and improving CI/CD pipelines for automated testing and deployments.
• Designs data persistence across relational and NoSQL databases with sound data modeling and query optimization.
• Documents engineering processes to improve developer efficiency and team alignment.
• Adapts to business changes and seeks new learning opportunities.
