Job summary

Tata Consultancy Services in Cincinnati, OH is seeking an experienced Backend Lead with 7+ years in software engineering and 2+ years in a Technical Lead role. You will own design and development of scalable Java/Spring Boot backend systems, implement REST APIs and microservices, and guide offshore/onshore teams through critical projects.

The role requires hands-on coding, deep knowledge of Kubernetes/OpenShift, Kafka, GraphQL, and CI/CD with GitLab.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of software engineering experience with 2+ years in a Technical Lead role.
• Strong hands-on expertise in Java 17/21, Spring Boot, REST APIs and Microservices.
• Experience with Kafka/Event-driven architecture and GraphQL APIs.
• Experience designing and reviewing HLDs and LLDs.
• Strong understanding of scalability, resiliency, performance tuning, and production support.
• Experience leading offshore/onshore development teams.
• Hands on coding, needs to clear coding test.

Responsibilities

• Lead the design and development of robust backend systems with high availability.
• Drive database architecture and optimization for performance and data integrity.
• Contribute to cloud architectures and containerized deployments (Docker, Kubernetes, OpenShift).
• Develop and expose RESTful APIs and microservices using Spring Boot.
• Collaborate across teams to implement integrations and ensure secure, scalable systems.
• Provide guidance on code quality, testing, and DevOps practices.
