Job summary

EXSIF is seeking a Senior Java Software Engineer in Chicago for designing, building, modernizing, and supporting enterprise applications and integrations. The role requires strong Java/Jakarta EE skills and collaboration with stakeholders to deliver reliable solutions.

This is a hybrid Chicago position (one day per week in the office). Compensation and benefits will be discussed during recruiting and based on experience and location.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of software development, with emphasis on Java
• Strong knowledge of Java/Jakarta EE and APIs
• Experience with front-end, back-end, or full-stack and SQL databases
• Proficiency in a team-based delivery environment with CI/CD
• Understanding of secure coding and software engineering best practices

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, test, deploy, and support Java-based enterprise applications and integrations.
• Advance reliable software delivery with CI/CD, testing, and automation.
• Troubleshoot production issues and improve stability and performance.
• Refactor and modernize legacy applications for scalability and maintainability.
