Job summary

CBTS is seeking a Senior backend Java/J2EE/AWS developer to provide technical leadership for enterprise applications in Cincinnati. The role emphasizes designing, building, and consuming RESTful and SOAP services with a cloud-native mindset.

Onsite 5 days a week in Cincinnati, OH, the position is a 6-month contract with potential renewals and pay between $70 and $75 per hour on a W-2 basis. A strong 9+ year background and relevant degrees are required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
• 9+ years of experience in Java/J2EE development for enterprise-level applications.
• Extensive experience with AWS cloud services and cloud-native architectures.
• Proven experience designing and implementing IaC using Terraform.
• Experience designing, developing, and consuming RESTful and SOAP web services.
• Strong understanding of microservices architecture and design patterns.
• Experience with relational and NoSQL databases (e.g., PostgreSQL, MySQL, DynamoDB).
• Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines, version control systems, and agile methodologies.
• Excellent communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead the design, development, and implementation of complex enterprise applications using Java/J2EE technologies.
• Architect and implement solutions leveraging AWS cloud services (EC2, Lambda, S3, RDS, DynamoDB, SQS, SNS, API Gateway).
• Design, develop, and maintain Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using Terraform for provisioning and managing AWS resources.
• Develop and consume RESTful web services, ensuring high performance, security, and scalability.
• Provide technical leadership and guidance to development teams, fostering best practices in software development, code quality, and architectural design.
• Collaborate with product owners, architects, and other stakeholders to define technical requirements and translate them into actionable development plans.
• Conduct code reviews, mentor junior engineers, and promote a culture of continuous learning and improvement.
• Troubleshoot and resolve complex technical issues, ensuring stability and performance of production systems.
• Stay current with emerging technologies and industry trends, evaluating and recommending new tools and practices to enhance development processes.
